Financial Aid to the Victims of Savar Tragedy
Leading University Social Services Club (LUSSC), Sylhet made monetary donations of medical expenses and for rehabilitation of wounded victims of Savar Tragedy on 1 May 2013. A team of 07 members (Ifti, Kabir, Wadud, Minhaj, Shakir and Rashed) lead by the Advisor of LUSSC and Asst. Prof. Dept. of Business Administration Md. Jahangir Alam went into different hospitals and clinics where they handed over Tk. 2,000-10,000/- to each of the 68 wounded victims. From them 19 were in Enam Medical College & Hospital, 04 in Sima General Hospital, 08 in Old Deep Clinic, 07 in New Deep Clinic, 01 in Mukti Hospital, 19 in C.R.P and children of 10 missing workers.
D. Masud and D. Ovi of Enam Medical College & Hospital, and Mr. Azad from Genda, Savar supported the team. LUSSC thanks the contributors for reaching out to the moment of crisis and deeply appreciated for their help |

Celebration of Bengali New Year 1420
Leading University with the entire Bangladesh went into a festive mood wearing masks and traditional dresses, joined the colorful procession - Mangal Shobha Jatra - to welcome the New Year with good spirits on 14 April 2013. During the procession, students from the University carried large symbolic figures of bamboo-made owl, tortoise, tiger and elephant.
Students and the Cultural Club of the university made artifacts featuring rickshaws, ox, dragon, crocodiles, flying birds, warriors on elephant's back, horses and tigers chasing evil spirits around the campus and made it so colorful. The campus was beautifully decorated with brightly colored traditional decorative arts, students wore their finest clothing, the ladies in Sarees and the men looked fantastic in their colorful Panjabees.
After the procession LU Cultural Club organized a colorful cultural program of the New Year at the university Teachers’ Lounge and Games Room. Students from different departments brought different colorful events and made the program as an integral part of the Bengali's cultural heritage and tradition and a day of merriment.
University Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Professor Kismatul Ahsan joined the procession and the program hoping that the New Year would bring peace and prosperity to the country. Registrar Col. (Retd) Md. Mosharrof Hossain, all Head of the Departments, Faculties, Officers and students were present enthusiastically in the program.

Six-A-Side Cricket Tournament -2013
100 teams consisting of Leading University students started Six-A-Side Cricket Tournament on 31 March 2013 organized by Sports Club. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Kismatul Ahsan inaugurated the tournament at Govt. M.C. College Play Ground. “Importance of sports is parallel with the academic studies and Sports Club of LU always took active part to arrange various sports events. It’s fact play ground is a vital issue in every educational institutions and I hope the Permanent campus of LU will have a large play ground - the VC said as Chief Guest of the inauguration ceremony. He also encouraged the Advisors of Sports Club to arrange Inter-University sports events and expressed his support for this.
As Special Guest Registrar Colonel (Retd) Md. Mosharrof Hossain said, “I am fond of games and sports since my early age and thanked the sports club advisors for arranging such wonderful tournament. Dy Registrar Engr. Md. Luthfor Rahaman, Sr Lecturer of Business Administration Mr. Tanvir Ahmed Chowdhury, Sports Club Advisor Mr. Mahbubur Rahman and Mr. Abdul Mudassir Chowdhury, Public Relation Officer Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, Sports Club President Munna and all other members were present in this program. |

Independence Day Football Tournament 2013
To Celebrate the Independence Day Leading University Sports Club arranged a Football Match on 26 March 2013 at the Govt. M.C. College Play Ground. The exciting match ended with no goal (Draw) between Teachers Team Vs Students Team. Registrar Colonel (Retd) Md. Mosharrof Hossain, Controller of Exams Prof. Dr. Md. Shafiullah, Public Relation Officer Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, teachers, students and all members of Sports Club enjoyed the match. The match was coordinated by the Advisor of Sports Club Mr. Mahbubur Rahman and Mr. Abdul Mudassir Chowdhury. After the match the invited guests hoped that in future the Sports Club will bring more events and expressed thanks to the Advisor and President of Sports Club and those who contributed their great support to make the tournament successful.

Independence Day Observed
Leading University organized a colorful rally to mark the National and Independence Day of the land in a befitting manner on 26 March 2013.To observe the day duly , the university authority took all necessary steps to put the program into operation. The students from different departments and clubs took their active part with jovial looking banners and bouquet of flowers in a precession leading to the Shaheed Minar of Sylhet. Colonel (Retd.) Md. Mosharrof Hossain, Registrar of Leading University, Professor Dr. Md. Shafiullah, Controller of Examinations, Professor Nurul Islam Sarder, Professor Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Head of Civil Engineering Department, Md. Rezaul Karim, Proctor of the university, Mohammad Kabir Ahmed, Director of Finance and Accounts, Advisors of different clubs were among others present on the occasion.

Social Services Club Organized Children’s Drawing Competition
The Social Services Club of Leading University organized a drawing competition on 22 March 2013 where more than two hundred students from many different schools of Sylhet took part with their utmost zeal. Significance of martyrdom of our Independence Day , Shaheed Minar- an emblem of Bengali identity, Bengali Alphabet, the Forerunners of our proud 1971 were the selected areas for the children to draw and paint on their canvases .Professor Md. Kismatul Ahsan, Vice-chancellor of Leading University was present in the drawing competition as the chief guest. Honourable Vice-chancellor termed the participating children of the drawing competition as a blooming flower of the country. He also invited everybody of our society to convey true messages of Independence of Bangladesh to our children wherever . In addition, the Vice-chancellor asked the parents of the children to build up their predilection through various competitions and merit-oriented tests.
District Commissioner of Sylhet Khan Mohammad Bilal was present in the drawing competition as the special guest. The special guest of the program praised the activities of the Social Services Club and expressed his hopefulness of more innovative social involvement of the club. He added that the participation of the Social Services Club of Leading University would be, however, expedited in future along with academic normal activities of the students. In Particular, the Deputy Commissioner felt happier to know about voluntary educational program dedicated to the orphans of Bagbari Shishu Paribar (Balok) and Rainagar Shishu and Rainagar Shishu Paribar (Balika). Colonel (Retd) Md. Mosharrof Hossain, Registrar of Leading University also spoke on the occasion.
Md. Jahangir Alam, Advisor of the Social Services Club asserts LUSSC is conducting a voluntary educational program named ALO at Rainagar Shishu Paribar (Balika) with the sincere assistance of the Deputy Commissioner since last year and it will be extended to Bagbari Shishu Paribar (Balok) keeping the aforesaid fashion of the program in mind .

Leading University observed Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day and paid tribute to the departed souls of the martyrs of Language Movement of Bangladesh at Sylhet Shaheed Minar on 21 February 2013. A huge rally lead by LU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Kismatul Ahsan starts from the campus where Registrar, Colonel (Retd) Md. Mosharrof Hossain, Director of Finance & Accounts Mohammad Kabir Ahmed, all Faculty members, Officers and Students were present to pay homage to the heroes of the Language Movement.

Today 12 December 2012 is the 6th Death Anniversary of Mrs. Rabeya Khatun Chowdhury, Co-Founder of Leading University, Sylhet, former Chief Editor, the Daily Sylheter Dak, and wife of the Renowned Philanthropist Mr. Ragib Ali Founder & Chairman of Leading University, Sylhet.
On the occasion, Qurankhwani, Milad Mahfil and distribution of food among the poor have been arranged at 10: 00 am at her home town. Also a prayer and commemorative discussion will be held at Rabeya Khatun Chowdhury Auditorium of Leading University, Sylhet at 3:00 PM.
All her relatives, friends, and well-wishers are requested to attend the occasion and pray for the salvation of her departed soul.

Success in ACM-ICPC Dhaka Regional 2012
A team of three students participated in ACM ICPC Dhaka Regional 2012 hosted by Daffodil International University at Radison Hotel, Dhaka and performed outstandingly. The team successfully solved 3 problems and among all the public and private universities of Bangladesh, Leading University team secured 15th place university wise. The team consisted of three CSE students, namely Jubayer Al Farabi, Asoke Datta and Gautum Chakrabarty Tushar. The team was coached by Senior Lecturer of CSE department Mr. Arif Ahmad. Leading University organizes training camp for the students, which is supervised by Md Mustafijur Rahman Faysal. Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Kismatul Ahsan and the Head of CSE department Mr. Rumel M.S. Rahman Pir congratulated the team for their excellent performance. |

Inauguration of “Mind’s Eyes Photographic Exhibition 2012”
Leading University (LU) Vice-chancellor Professor Md. Kismatul Ahsan inaugurated a Photographic Exhibition titled “Mind’s Eyes Photographic Exhibition 2012- Organized by Leading University Photography Society” at Rabeya Khatun Chowdhury Auditorium of LU on November 19, 2012. Mr. Rumel M.S. Rahman Pir, Assistant Prof. & Head, Department of CSE. presided the opening ceremony of LUPS as the Advisor of the LU Photography Society.
In his inauguration speech the Vice-chancellor thanked the organizer and expresses his participation in future. “Photos reflect the scenario of society and I hope LU Photography Society will frame not only the moment of happiness but also the images of deprived society” the Vice-chancellor said.

The Exhibition was presented by Aunik and Iffat students of LU. Associate Professor & Head Department of Business Administration Dr. Bashir Ahmed Bhuiyan, Proctor & Head Department of English Md. Rezaul Karim, Head of EEE Mohammad Fazle Rabbi, Deputy Registrar Engr. Lutfor Rahaman, teachers, officers, and students were present the Exhibition.
The Exhibition comprises 50 photographs framed by teachers, officers and students of LU and display was open from 9 am to 3 pm on 20 November 2012.

Fresher Reception Ceremony: Semester Fall 2012 was held on October 11, 2012 at Rabeya Khatun Chowdhury Auditorium of Leading University (LU). Honorable Vice-chancellor Professor Md. Kismatul Ahsan was the Chief Guest. In his welcome speech the vice chancellor asked the students to concentrate on their studies and harbor knowledge. The auspicious ceremony was organized by “ORPEUS”, a Musical Band at LU. On the occasion Md. Rezaul Karim, Proctor & Head (Acting) Department of English, Engrr. Lutfor Rahaman, Registrar (Acting), Faculty Members and Public Relation Officer Mohammad Alamgir Hossain were also present. The students and “ORPEUS” Band enjoyed the program. |

Leading University Opens Voluntarily Education Program Dedicated to Orphans
Social Services Club of Leading University (LU) opens an “Informal Voluntarily Education Program Dedicated to Orphans (ALO)” at Sharkary Shishu Paribar (Balika), Rainagar, Sylhet on October 14, 2012. The program has been inaugurated by Mr. Md. Shahabuddin Khan, ADC (Revenue), Sylhet. The Program will begin with 16 members of Social Services Club those will conduct the classes as Voluntary Teacher, and the other members will be in a panel. As a Special Guest, ADC ensured his contributions and continuous support to grow with ALO. Abul Kalam, Deputy Director of the Board of Social Welfare, Sylhet, said “May in future people will know the Leading University by name and fame of ALO as we know Argentina after the name of famous footballer Maradona”. A Day Long Workshop Held at Leading University, Sylhet
Leading University has organized a day long “Workshop on Preparing an Effective Business Plan.” The key note speaker Mr. Mohammed Jamal Uddin, Associate Professor Department of Business Administration, University of Cittagong and Chief Consultant SME Helpline Bangladesh Ltd. conducted the workshop. Professor Md. Kismatul Ahsan, Vice-chancellor of Leading University, Sylhet was present at the workshop as Chief Guest.
Mr. Mohammed Jamal Uddin denotes his opinion with a holistic and complete outlook towards preparing an effective business plan which covers theoretical and practical aspects based on real life experiences. From his guideline participants learned how to prepare business plans based on real life case studies and in depth focused discussion with a complete a set of skill to develop an effective business plan.
The valuable speakers on the workshop mainly focused on the essential ingredients that go into constructing an effective business plan, and vision documentation for a start up to put idea to the next goal of scaling up.
The Workshop was presided by Dr. Bashir Ahmed Bhuiyan, Associate Professor and Head Department of Business Administration and Dr. Md. Shafilluh Professor Department of Business Administration as Special Guest where Head of all other Departments and all the Faculty Members and Students of the Department of Business Administration, Leading University, Sylhet were present.

Students of EEE department have participated in Inter University Tech Fiesta 2012 organized by Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Khulna. A group of three students, Bishwajit (6E), Juwel (5E) and Rahat (3E), has exhibited their electronic projects in this tech exhibition. The group showed four different innovative projects and achieved an honorable mention in this competition. The group was coached by Mr. Mrinal Kanti Dhar, Lecturer, EEE. |

Monday August 13, 2012 Social Services Club of Leading University has distributed Eid Clothes and Food to Sharkary Shishu Paribar Balika at Rainagar, Sylhet. In this program the Chief Guest was Professor and Controller Dr. Md. Safiullah, as Special Guests Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Business Administration Dr. Bashir Ahmed Bhuiyan, Registrar (Acting) Engr. Md. Lutfor Rahman, Proctor and Head of the English Department Professor Md. Rezaul Karim, Assistant Professor of BuA M. Shahansha Molla, Assistant Professor and Advisor of Social Services Club Md. Jahangir Alam and Deputy Caretaker of Sharkary Shishu Paribar Balika Ms. Suchitra Roy were present. The members of Social Services Club Nurul, Ifty, Rimi, Kabir, Wadud, Juma, Reza, Shakib, Adnan, Dipu, Saber, Nuba, Karim and Nahiyan and others were also present in this program.
Ms. Suchitra Ray hopes Leading University will extend its hands in development of education of Shishu Paribar in future.

Workshop on ‘English Language Teaching Methodology’
A workshop entitled ‘English Language Teaching Methodology’ was held on 17 July and 18 July 2012 at Leading University, Sylhet organized by the English Department for the faculty members, researchers of different private and public universities to get together, disseminate shared knowledge and views on English language teaching. Professor Md. Kismatul Ahsan, Vice-chancellor of Leading University was the chief guest and Professor Dr. M. Maniruzzaman of English Department, Jahangirnagar University conducted the workshop as a resource person.
One of the goals of the workshop was for the participants to learn about approaches, methods and techniques of English language. A second goal of the workshop was to help the participants uncover the thoughts that would guide their own actions as a teacher of English language. A third goal of the workshop was to exploit an appropriate method of English language teaching and to make opinions about planning and challenges for successfully overcoming limitations of Communicative Language Teaching Approach at the tertiary level in Bangladesh. And all the more exchanging views and opinions on grammar-translation method and identifying challenges of communicative teaching methods and techniques were the focal points of this two-day long workshop.

Blood Donation and Grouping Program Held:
A day long ‘Blood Donation and Blood Grouping Program’ was held on 30th of June, 2012 at Rabeya Khatun Chowdhury Auditorium of Leading University. The program was organized by Social Services Club of Leading University in collaboration with ‘Sondhani’ of Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Unit, Sylhet. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Leading University Md. Kismatul Ahsan was the chief guest. Total one hundred and eight bags blood was collected and grouping of Blood was identified of more than two hundreds participants. Students, faculty members and officials spontaneously participated in program.
In this program Professor of Business Administration Dr. Md. Safiullah, Associate Professor and Head Dept. of Business Administration Mr. Bashir Ahmed Bhuiyan, Proctor and Assistant Prof. & Head (Acting), Dept. of English, Deputy Registrar Mr.Md.Lutfor Rahaman, Advisor of Social Services Club Leading University and Asst. Celebration of 11th founding Anniversary of Leading University
31th March, the Leading University, sylhet celebrated its 11th founding anniversary with the commitment “we shall overcome”. The very first private university of Sylhet division arranged a rally with gaiety and grandeur. The celebration kicked off at the university campus at 9.00 am morning followed by cake-cutting. A colorful parade led by the Honorable Chairman Danobir Ragib Ali and Vice Chancellor Professor Md. Kismatul Ahsan was taken out from the campus and rounded the Zindabazar, Chowhatta, Rikabi bazar, Shekhghat and again ended up at the campus premises. University teachers past and present student and official and employees
participated in parade. The Ragib-Rabeya Foundation senior Vice-chairman Abdul Hai also attended the program.
Amazing arrangements of different departments of the university made the rally very successful and their joyful participation reflected their love and passion to the university. The people of Sylhet congrats 11th anniversary of Leading University and hoping our success in education.
An arrangement of lunch for all participants was setup by the university. The eventful program has finished at 12.00 pm noon. |

Annual Picnic 2012 of the teachers, officers and stuffs of Leading University, Sylhet.
Annual Picnic 2012 of the teachers, officers and stuffs of Leading University, Sylhet was held on 16th February, 2012 at Rajnagar Tea State, Moulovibazar. Participation of about 250 peoples made the program glorious and successful. The journey towards the Rajnagar Tea State started at 9.0 am morning from Leading University campus. There was an arrangement of grand lunch for all the teachers, officers and stuffs. A number of events like game for both male, female and also for kids made the program more enjoyable. The raffle draw event accelerated the program a lot at the end. The presence of Honorable Chairman Danobir Ragib Ali along with the Vice-Chancellor Professor Kismatul Ahsan and Vice-Chairman Mr. Abdul Hye enlighten the program with perfectness. Their valuable speech inspired the participants a lot. Convener of the eventful program Mr. Rumel M.S. Pir( Head, Department of CSE & EEE) thanks all the teachers, officers and stuffs. This successful day of annual picnic came to the end by starting the return journey towards Leading University, Sylhet. |
